MC1K Handheld Radiation Alert®
Detector
Like the specialized Monitor 4EC, the MC1K uses a built-in energy compensated GM
detector, but is much higher ranging. It detects Gamma and X-rays up to 1000 mR/hr over 4 selectable ranges.
A beep sounds and a count light flashes with each event detected.
So in exchange for the higher operating range, prepare to give up some
sensitivity on the lower end, but among our selection, the MC1K is all but alone
in detecting higher ranging levels of radioactivity.
Having said that, the MC1K is still sensitive to background radiation,
registering about 5 to 8 CPM.
