The Monitor 4EC is identical to the Monitor 4, except that it has an energy compensated Geiger-Mueller tube that offers a more accurate linear reading for Gamma and X-rays (above 40 keV).

This makes the EC model especially suited for checking X-Ray machines for leaks.

At the same time, this EC model still detects Alpha and Beta radiation, and produces the same typical background radiation count as the standard Monitor 4.

Below, you will find the Specifications for the Monitor 4EC, only as they differ from the standard Monitor 4.  Otherwise, you can assume that the specifications are the same.

Halogen-quenched GM tube, energy compensated sidewall 2mm tin filter
Energy Sensitivity The energy response for gamma and x-rays through the detector sidewall is flat within +61% or -26% over the range of 40 keV to 100 keV, and within +35% or -17% over the range of 100 keV to 1.3 MeV

Weight

235 grams (8.3 oz.) without battery, vs 215g (7.6 oz) on Monitor 4
